Terms of Service

1. Service Description
BarryBudget is a personal finance application that connects to your bank accounts, tracks spending, visualizes budgets, and displays your net worth. The service is provided by James Barry (“we”, “us”, “our”).
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use BarryBudget. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide is accurate.
3. Account and Security
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You agree to notify us immediately if you become aware of any unauthorized access to your account. We are not liable for losses resulting from unauthorized use of your account.
4. Subscription and Billing
BarryBudget is a paid service with usage-based pricing. By subscribing, you agree to pay the applicable fees. All payments are processed by Stripe. Your subscription includes a 30-day free trial.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the end of the billing period.
- You can cancel your subscription at any time through the billing portal or by contacting us.
- Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. Contact us if you believe you were charged in error.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of applicable laws.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' accounts.
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the service.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the service.
- Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or extract data from the service.
6. Third-Party Services
BarryBudget integrates with third-party services including Plaid (bank data), Stripe (payments), and Google (authentication). Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the availability or accuracy of data provided by third-party services.
7. Data and Privacy
Your use of BarryBudget is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your data.
8. Limitation of Liability
BarryBudget is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that financial data displayed will be accurate or complete at all times.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim.
9. Termination
You may delete your account at any time through the Settings page. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms or engage in activity that harms other users or the service. Upon termination, your data is permanently deleted as described in our Data Deletion & Retention Policy.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via email and update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
11. Governing Law
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction.
