Data Deletion & Retention
Effective June 25, 2026
What Happens When You Delete Your Account
When you delete your BarryBudget account, all of your data is permanently and immediately removed. There is no grace period or recovery window — deletion is final.
Data That Is Removed
The following data is permanently deleted:
- Your user profile (name, email, preferences)
- All linked bank accounts and their balances
- All transaction history
- All budgets and spending data
- All net worth snapshots and history
- All Plaid connections and encrypted access tokens
- All authentication sessions and OAuth tokens
External Service Cleanup
In addition to deleting your data from our database, we also clean up your data in external services:
- Plaid: all connected bank items are revoked. Plaid will immediately stop accessing your bank data on our behalf.
- Stripe: your active subscriptions are cancelled and your Stripe customer record is deleted.
Timeline
Deletion is immediate upon confirmation. Your data is removed from our database and external services as part of the deletion process.
Backups
No backup copies of individual user data are retained after account deletion.
